Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Solar power is the raw energy created by the sun’s rays. With asolar system, that energy can be harnessed and used to provide electricity to run a home or business.

In most cases, the answer is yes. Arosa will perform an evaluation of your location prior to an installation to ensure optimal production from your solar system.

Solar panels need a relatively south-facing area that receives sunlight from approximately 9am to 3pm. The systems can also be tilt-mounted to face south or ground mounted. If your roof does not offer an ideal location for installation, Arosa has successfully installed carport systems.

Yes. The panels come with a 25-year production warranty from the manufacturer, and system maintenance is minimal aside from the occasional wash-down, should the panels get soiled. Arosa offers a maintenance package with bi-annual visits to preempt any system issues for an annual fee.

Typically you will still receive a bill from your utility company. However, depending on your system size versus your building’s electrical usage, you can reduce your utility bill and, in some cases, even eliminate it.

SREC’s, or ‘green tags’ are certificates issued to owners of renewable energy systems. SREC prices are locked-in for fifteen years. In New Jersey, power generated by solar energy collectors can be tracked, and registered on a state website. Whenever the amount of power generated reaches one MW (megawatt), a certificate, or tag, is issued and registered in the name of the system owner.

Utility companies are required to show that a certain percentage of their power comes from renewable sources. Building renewable energy generating systems statewide takes time, so the state allows these companies to satisfy a portion of their renewable energy requirement by purchasing SREC’s from system owners.

Arosa offers numerous PPA’s custom designed to your needs.

A PPA is a long-term solar lease that is unique to the situation at hand. The PPA is designed to accommodate the needs of the lessee, and it enables businesses to benefit from solar power without purchasing a solar system. The owner or investor installs the solar system at the business location, and sells the end user the electricity that is generated at a low, non-inflationary cost.

Solar energy systems are warrantied for 25 years, with a life expectancy of over 30 years. They are designed for minimal, if any, maintenance and a long functioning life. Solar panels are rigorously tested for all weather conditions, including hail at 50 mph.

The photovoltaic cells in solar panels must have sunlight to create electricity. You can continue benefiting from their energy production after sunset through net metering and solar battery storage. When your solar system generates and overproduces electricity, this causes your meter to spin backwards.

While solar panels still work even when the light is reflected or partially obstructed by clouds, their energy production capacity will be diminished. On average, solar panels will generate 10 to 25% of their normal power output on days with heavy cloud coverage.

Your solar system is engineered to overproduce energy during full sunlight hours. As the system overproduces it spins your meter backwards, and credits you for the over production. Later during nighttime or cloudy days you enjoy the benefits of these credits.Customers are only billed for their “net” energy use.

Every situation is unique. The size of the system will depend on three basic factors: your monthly/annual energy usage, how many full sun hours you receive daily, and your roof size. A full sun hour is a period during which the solar panels are fully exposed to the sun at the right angle. This will depend on the direction of the roof of your house. To receive a precise estimate of the solar system size you need, please contact us. A brief call is all it takes.

Yes. We have numerous financing options. After more than 10 years, Arosa has developed multiple contacts with various financial institutions. Contact us today to learn more.

Our labor warranty is five years based on New Jersey state law. All our panels are warrantied for 25 years and have a life expectancy of over 30 years.

No. Most projects do not even require roof penetrations. The system is kept in place by ballast blocks, ensuring your roof remains intact. Although in some cases it is necessary to penetrate the roof as part of installation, our state-of-the-art compression technology is safeguarded by powerful sealants that will keep your roof as waterproof as it was before. We will work together with your roofer to make sure your roof warranty will not be voided.

During the first 5 years, Arosa will trouble-shoot any issues free of charge. We will not charge you for labor during these first 5 years. We will resolve any equipment issues via the manufacturer’s warranty.

After the 5-year period, Arosa will still continue to offer these same services as above. However, there may be a service fee involved.

Arosa offers a maintenance package with bi-annual visits to preempt any system issues for an annual fee.
